The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes 2023 (CCFUP), which would provide a flexible choice-based credit system, multidisciplinary approach, multiple entry and exit options, and establish three Broad Pathways, (a) 3-year UG Degree, (b) 4-year UG Degree (Honours), and (c) 4-year UG Degree (Honours with Research).
“THE MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES (HONOURS) REGULATIONS, 2024” – MGU-UGP (Honours) was approved vide Orders of the Hon. Vice Chancellor dated 27.02.2024.
Under Graduate Programmes (Aided)
B. A. (Honours) Economics
Number of Seats: 40
Specialization: Rural Management
Students have opportunity to choose conventional Economics degree with History and Political Science as minors. If a student wants to explore and exploit the avenues of new generation jobs in data science and socio-economic research, they can choose Mathematics and Statistics as minors. Graduation in Economics enable students to perform in civil service examinations and other PSC and UPSC examinations.

B. A. (Honours) History
Number of Seats: 40
Along with major courses in History, the department also offers minor courses in Political Science. Students may choose Political Science and Economics as their minors. They may also choose minor courses in other subjects according to their interests.

About Programme:
The BSc Botany Honours program with a specialization in Applied Plant Science delves into the world of plants, offering a rich curriculum that combines foundational knowledge with practical applications in Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Forestry and Environmental Science. This prepares graduates for a wide range of exciting careers, from Research and Conservation to Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals, and Environmental Consulting. The department also offers minor courses in Zoology.
B. Sc. (Honours) Chemistry
Number of Seats: 20
Specialization: Forensic Chemistry
Opportunities: The specialization in Forensic Chemistry introduces students to various chemical techniques of Organic & Inorganic Analysis, Toxicology & Instrumentation. This leads to enhanced professional & technical skills opening several employment opportunities in Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Analytical Science & Information Science. This will help them to leverage their capabilities to work across multiple fields such as Education, Manufacturing, Ecology and Law Enforcement.
B. Sc. (Honours) Mathematics
Number of Seats: 24
The B.Sc. Mathematics program provides a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of Mathematics. Minor courses of Statistics are also offered by the Department. Graduates in Mathematics can pursue careers in the fields of Education, Research and IT.
Along with minor in Statistics, students may choose minor courses from any one of the following subjects. Physics, Computer, Botany, Economics, Chemistry and Commerce. This will give them career opportunities as Data Analyst, Actuary, Software Developer, Machine Learning Engineer, Cryptographer, Operational Research Assistant, Medical Physicist, Biostatistician, Bioinformatics specialist, Ecologist, Economist, Toxicologist, Analytical Chemist, Financial Assistant.
B. Sc. (Honours) Physics
Number of Seats: 24
Specializations: Computational Physics & Photonics
Pathways and Opportunities:
Along with major courses in Physics, the department also offers minor courses in Computer Application which may be chosen along with minor courses in Statistics or Mathematics giving students opportunity to lay foundation for their path towards career in IT, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis.
Students who are interested to pursue a conventional combination may also choose pathways with Chemistry and Mathematics as minors. Various job opportunities await them in Teaching, Forensic Science, Telecommunication, Biomedical Instrumentation, Scientific Writing, Content Creation, etc. Students have option to choose other nonconventional combinations according to their interests.
