EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT

The external theory examination of each semester shall be conducted by the University at the end of each semester.

The external practical examinations are conducted at the end of even semesters.

A separate minimum of 30% must be scored for internal and external components separately. For passing a course an aggregate of 35% must be scored.

 

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT

The internal assessment for a course is done by teacher(s) in charge of the course and the details (Form A) are forwarded to the corresponding class teacher. The class teacher consolidates the details of all courses (Form B) and publishes it on the department notice board. Grievances regarding the internal assessment shall be submitted to class teacher.

DIRECT GRADING SYSTEM

Direct Grading System based on a 7 – point scale is used to evaluate the performance (External and Internal Examination of students). For all courses (theory & practical) / semester/overall programme, Letter grades and GPA/SGPA/CGPA are given on the following scale:

No separate minimum is required for Internal evaluation for a pass, but a minimum C grade is required for a pass in an external evaluation. However, a minimum C grade is required for pass in a course.

PROJECT/DISSERTATION

Components and Wieghtage for External Evaluation: The project is evaluated by one external and one internal examiner. The dissertation of the project is examined along with the oral presentation of the project by the candidate. The different weight for assessment of different components is shown in below.

COMPREHENSIVE VIVA -VOCE

Components and weightage for External Evaluation: Comprehensive viva-voce shall be conducted at the end of the programme. Viva-voce shall be conducted by one external examiner and one internal examiner. The viva-voce shall cover questions from all courses in the programme. There shall be no internal assessment for comprehensive viva-voce.
