The inception of Commerce Department is in 1977 with the pre-degree course. In 1982 the under graduate course B. Com was introduced. Now the department is offering B. Com. (Finance and Taxation) which is the most demanding one among the Commerce enthusiasts. The department was upgraded to post graduate department in 1995 with the introduction of M. Com. (Finance) programme. In the year 2014 the department was upgraded as a Research Centre under the Faculty of Commerce, Mahatma Gandhi University, offering Ph. D. programme.
