The N. K. Sukumaran Nair Memorial and Award Ceremony was organized on March 3, 2025, by the Paristhithi Souhradha Samithi, Pathanamthitta, in collaboration with the Departments of Economics and Botany, Bishop Abraham Memorial College. The event honoured the legacy of the late environmentalist N. K. Sukumaran Nair, featuring a memorial lecture, award presentation and a seminar.
The program was presided over by Dr. Jose Parakadavil, President, Paristhithi Souhradha Samithi, Pathanamthitta, who highlighted the importance of carrying forward the environmental conservation efforts initiated by N. K. Sukumaran Nair. The event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Mathew P. Joseph, Manager of Bishop Abraham Memorial College. As part of the ceremony, the N. K. Sukumaran Nair Memorial Award was presented to Mr. Joseph M. Puthusseri for his role in shaping environmentally conscious policies.
A seminar titled ‘Kerala’s Evolving Environment’ was conducted, offering an in-depth discussion on ecological changes and sustainable conservation strategies. Dr. D. Padmalal (Scientist (Rtd.), National Centre for Earth Science Studies) shared valuable insights into the environmental challenges facing Kerala and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. Mr. Varghese C. Thomas effectively guided the discussions, ensuring a thought-provoking exchange of ideas.
